I could not get Eclipse to install because of Java incompatibilities. The sequence I followed goes like this: Upgraded to MAC OS Sierra; Downloaded the Eclipse installer but was prompted that I needed to instal a legacy Java. Installed Java 1.6; Was unable to install Eclipse and was prompted that I needed Java 1.7. The stand-alone Memory Analyzer is based on Eclipse RCP. It is useful if you do not want to install a full-fledged IDE on the system you are running the heap analysis. To install the Memory Analyzer into an Eclipse IDE use the update site URL provided below. The Memory Analyzer (Chart) feature is optional. The chart feature requires the BIRT Chart Engine (Version 2.3.0 or greater). A page, with the label eclipse downloads, will be displayed in your browser. In the first section, find the text Download Now: Eclipse SDK 3.2, Windows (120 MB) Click the icon to the left of this text, or the part of the text labeled Eclipse SDK 3.2 If you are using a Mac, it should sense it and display Mac instead of Windows.
Details Group Tabs
A little utility for macOS that adds a Open Workspace menu entry which when activated opens the selected workspace in a new Eclipse instance. In addition Eclipse instance icons get a badge with the workspace name. This can be set in Preferences > General > Workspace. If unspecified the last segment of the workspace path will be used.
Note that OS X 10.6 or newer is required as this feature relies on the open command's ability to pass on arguments. Eclipse IDE 3.7+ and Java 1.7 or better is also required.
